Revision Runaway

Why is it me revising

I’m not sitting the exam

But every time the books come out

There I am

I try to give an encouraging smile

Even though it’s fake

A 13yo needs glue on the chair

Or he’s off,  #FFS

My son looks at the revision books

As if they’re from outer space

He’s a replica of ‘Oliver’

With that sad look on his face

Of course the task is always new

“we never learnt this in class”

If you believe this year 9 boy

Teachers just sit on their Ass

So I smile, and take a look

And though i’m not a fool

It’s over 30 years

Since I went to school

It’s like a foreign language

Well sometimes it actually is

French, Spanish, Chinese

Am I in a Mastermind quiz?

but i’ll continue my cajoling

And hope it all sinks in

But when he’s doing his GCSE’s

I’m afraid i’ll be hitting the GIN.

I love you poem. This reminded me of my brother in school. I can imagine most boys are like this and I am sure Buba will be the same too. Or maybe this is a stereotype as girls do it too. I swear kids these days have far more homework than I ever did and test and exams to sit. It’s mind blowing to keep up with it all. Thanks for linking up to Share With me. #sharewithme

You always write such clever poetry and this is no exception. Great subject too! Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought 🙂 x

So glad it’s not just my two teens that keep telling me that they have not learnt anything at school when it comes to homework and revision lol! Loved this poem, really made me laugh 🙂 #sharewithme

Ha ha absolutely love this and can so relate! I have a yr 9 girl who is EXACTLY the same – so frustrating isn’t it? However, I did have to remind myself this week, did I ever revise at her age? No, I didn’t even know how to!

Our parents didn’t stress about us either, how things have changed haha.

Oh goodness! We haven’t hit the exam years yet, but I live in dread… Great rhythms to this poem. I liked the thread of humour too – we mums have to retain that at all times

Lordy this sounds familiar! Think I’ve made a rod for my own back with my eldest. The standing joke is I’ll be taking some GCSE’s with him! Fab poem 🙂

My brother was never observed doing a single second of revision – yet always aced his exams. It was disgusting. 🙂

Gah! I feel the exact same way with school projects. I mean, why am I making an igloo?? Am I winning a trip to the Arctic?
    Great poem 🙂
