Dear child, a poem for mums of chattering children

 Dear child

A poem dedicated to parents of children who chatter all the time.

May you get 5 minutes peace.

x

Dear child, don’t you know

just how much I love you so

but all the questions

on and on

I feel as if my brain has gone

No the sun won’t melt you

yes Superman can fly

but NO! little children can’t so please don’t even try

Yes, I’m making lunch now

no you won’t grow as big as a tree

and I don’t think it’s a good idea to invite a pig to tea

I know you are inquisitive

and it’s answers that you need

and I love that you’ve an enquiring mind

but I can’t wait till you can read.

Fab little poem. Love the bit about the pig for tea, was it Peppa? 🙂

Haha, it wasn’t, but I imagine that could happen a lot. Thanks.

Love this! Very funny but I have to warn you that the chatter doesn’t stop in their teens – they know all the answers then and have to tell you!

wonderful funny poem – wish I’d written down more of the hilarious/odd things the kids have asked me over the years. Mistakenly thought I’d remember them. Though my son did ask recently if we were actually here, or just imagining it…. made for an interesting school run chat!

They are so funny, glad you liked the poem. When our son was born a friend said she writes one thing a day about what they did or said, she has that record now her children are grown. I regret that I didn’t do it, it’s a great idea.
