Unrequited Dishwasher Love

The clouds shifted, casting an ominous shadow on the ground.

Announcing your arrival, as the delivery man turned round

Oh dishwasher how I’ve longed for you, cos I hate washing the dishes

When installed in our kitchen, you were the answer to my wishes

I thought you’d make my life easy, and i’d never need to stand

With a sink of murky water, enveloping my hands

But how quickly I realised, that you don’t fill yourself

And didn’t come supplied, with a dishwasher stacking elf

So I stand and pile the dishes in, and then back out again

Which really isn’t hard at all, though its such a boring pain

But it gives me time to daydream, of summer days of fun

Of holidays and languid ways relaxing in the sun

I’ll carry on this boring chore, and fill up every space

And continue to imagine, i’m in a far off beautiful place.

Brilliantly descriptive – and exactly how I felt and now feel about our dishwasher!! Thank you so much for linking to Prose for Thought xx

This is so much fun! Better than serious and sensible for sure and definitely not a fail 🙂

I feel this… even with the convenience of a dishwasher, tending to it is still a dreaded chore in our house 🙂

LOL – Okay – maybe it is a boring chore, but as one who “still must stand with a sink of murky water, enveloping my hands”, I still long for a dishwasher. This was a joy to read – probably because it seems I’ve found someone who hates to do dishes almost as much as I do.

God bless you and thanks for the fun read!

Fun and creative take on the prompts! I love the rhythm in this – not to mention the topic. Nicely done! 🙂

    Sounds like a love-hate relationship
