A teen and a Stadium Tour

I’ve said it before, trying to get the teen to come on a day out with the parents is nigh impossible, but sometimes there’s an invitation even he couldn’t refuse.
We didn’t have to ask twice when we told him we were invited to visit Manchester City FC for a tour of the Etihad Stadium, perfect for a footy mad teen.

Now Man City isn’t our team, but we were all aware of the fab stadium and it’s facilities and really looked forward to touring the state of the art stadium.

The teen was impressed from the minute we met our tour guide  in the store, it was much bigger than his usual haunt.  We then crossed City Square towards the stadium, I was impressed by the pre-match facilities and entertainment usually held in the square, it really portrayed a family day out.

After a tour of the Chairman’s lounge and a sit on the best seats (heated) to viewing the pitch….

…then a walk through the tunnel and standing pitch side, it was a great experience and I am always amazed at how big football pitches are.  The stadium seats 55000 and with the further expansion will seat 62000.

And after Dad and lad discussed team tactics…

…It was time for a tour of the dressing room!  and although our teen told Lynn the Tour Guide he had no favourite players in the team, he quickly played musical chairs having his photo taken in his select few, De Bruyne, Silva and Yaya Toure. He might not be a City supporter but he does appreciate great football.

We had a fab day and it was lovely to do something around the passion that Dad and Son have for football, our whole group enjoyed the tour and what better way to end it than with tots and mascots dancing.

Thank you so much Manchester City FC for the Invitation.

It looks like an amazing stadium. It’s getting harder to drag our big lad along with us and he’s only 9 1/2! This was a perfect day out for a teen you are right. TY for linking up with #FamilyFun

It was a great day Sarah considering the guys in our house are Evertonians : )

That looks brilliant. We did the United tour and it was pretty much along the same lines (although a much older stadium). I would have been interested to compare the two. My teen would have still sulked all the way round though… *sigh*

It was good, but now the husband has decided to take the boys to a match with hospitality as a special treat, at Everton of course : )
