Driving in the sun

I know it’s been hot all over the country this week, but here in the North west where we’re not really used to any weather that doesn’t include rain, it was so hot even some of the candles in the local garden centre melted, it’s true! that’s how hot it was.

So deciding to take advantage of the sunshine I had a sneaky little trip out in the husband’s Lexus, which makes a change from the ‘kid mobile’ that I usually drive.

….and then it rained, heavily.

And no, I wasn’t speeding everywhere. Did you know, after hot sun the road can be extra slippery when it rains?  deposits build up on the hot dry surface and then rain churns it all up making it harder for tyres to grip the surface. I read that after my friend told me about aquaplaning in her car.

We have a good set of tyres on this car and mine, and we do check them. I’ve seen someone slipping and sliding all over the road, I did think it was a rubbish driver but turns out it was rubbish worn tyres. I watched on as it glided across the road settling sideways, lucky for them there was no big collision but there was a Police car, BUSTED!

‘The safety of car tyres is a serious part of car maintenance. Don’t ever ignore even a small crack or bulge on the tyres, as it can lead to the tyre of your car busting in the middle of the road, causing inconvenience not only to you but to everybody around.

In case, of any doubts about your car tyres, visit a professional tyre expert as soon as possible. You can sort everything out online too by logging on to point-s.co.uk, who let you book car tyres online and set up tyre inspection/fitting appointments  without any upfront payment.

So as we seem to be currently getting hot sun followed by torrential rain, take care when you’re out and about, and I’d better remember to put the roof up!

Woo hoo- loving the sun but not so pleased with the unpredictability of the rain and wind! !
I didn’t realise that about hot roads so thanks for the warning. So important to keep your car road ready. X

When I saw the title of your post I thought it might be about middle aged sweaty men driving without their t-shirts on (yuck) !!! Thankfully its not. I totally agree about tyre safety. One minute the roads have been completely dry and then next its a sea of puddles. My hubby does the car maintenance but I shall remind him to check the tyres xx

We’ve just had our tyres replaced – it’s so costly but essential!

That’s so true, it’s not always the thing you want to spend money on.
